At the Eighth Congress of the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Yugoslavia, which was held in September 1997 at the Sava Center in Belgrade, the idea of founding the Yugoslav Engineering Academy – JINA was supported. This idea was present in the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Yugoslavia since 1993.
The founding assembly of JINA was held on June 26, 2000, which ended the multi-year work of the Parent Commission, which was formed to carry out all activities related to the establishment of the Academy.
The seat of the Academy is in the home of the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Yugoslavia – SITJ, at Kneza Miloša Street 9 in Belgrade.
According to special standards and criteria, a number of distinguished teaching-scientific and professional workers from Montenegro were elected to the Yugoslav Academy of Engineering – JINA, namely: prof. Dr. Nikola Adžić, B.Sc. civil engineer Veljko Belada, prof. Dr. Miodrag Bulatović, B.Sc. Eng. technical Bogdan Ćosović, Miodrag Kaluđerović, Ph.D., Ana Mišurović, M.Sc., B.Sc. Eng. Radenko Ostojić, prof. Dr. Ljubomir Pejović, prof. dr Svetislav Popović, prof. Mićko Radulović, Ph.D., Mojsije Vučeljić, Ph.D. and B.Sc. Eng. Radisav Žujović.
The Yugoslav Engineering Academy ‒ JINA operated under that name until January 25, 2010, when it was transformed into the Engineering Academy of Serbia ‒ IAS, founded by the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Serbia ‒ SITS.
Elected members of the former Yugoslav Engineering Academy ‒ JINA from Montenegro have become foreign members of the Serbian Engineering Academy ‒ IAS.
After the restoration of Montenegrin statehood, members of the former Yugoslav Academy of Engineering – JINA from Montenegro formed an initiative committee, which included the following academics: Ljubomir Pejović, Bogdan Čosović and Miodrag Bulatović, who initiated activities and made preparations for holding the Founding Assembly of the Engineering Academy of Montenegro ‒ IACG.
At the Founding Assembly of the IACG, which was held at the Biotechnical Institute in Podgorica, prof. was elected as the president of the Academy. Dr. Ljubomir Pejović, and at the first working meeting of academics, which was held on February 9, 2009. year, at the Biotechnical Institute, prof. was elected vice president of the Academy. Dr. Miodrag Bulatović.
The elected leadership undertook further activities regarding the establishment of the Engineering Academy of Montenegro ‒ IACG, namely:
– The Statute of the Engineering Academy of Montenegro and the Rules of Procedure of the Academy were drawn up.
– A seal was made (round and square).
– The Decision was made on the establishment of the Academy, which was registered under the number 4062 according to the then valid Law on Non-Governmental Organizations.
– The Decision on registration in the Register of Non-Governmental Organizations was adopted.
– The Decision on registration and enrollment in the Register of Taxpayers was adopted.
– An extract from the register on the classification of the academy’s activities in statistics was prepared.
– A giro account and PIB was opened at Crnogorska kommercielja banka.
– A contract with CKB and a record of deposited signatures were drawn up, which created all the prerequisites for the start of work and operation of the IACG.
The elected leadership of the IACG invested a lot of effort and work in the constitution of the IACG, without conditions and any initial funds for work.
The meetings were held, mostly, at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, due to the fact that SITCG lost its premises in the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro during the transition processes, which we could not get back.
As soon as these activities regarding the constitution of the IACG were completed, a new Law on Non-Governmental Organizations was adopted, published in Sl. list of RCG no. 39/1, which abolished all previous non-governmental organizations, and by the same law, all non-governmental organizations were given two years to harmonize their acts with the newly adopted Law.
Due to all of the above, the leadership of the IACG harmonized its normative acts with the regulations stipulated in the new Law on Non-Governmental Organizations, after which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro, on October 22, 2013, issued a Decision on the entry of the Engineering Academy of Montenegro – IACG into the Register of Non-Governmental Organizations under number 6799.
The Council of Academics made a Decision on the annual membership fee for academics, and in the meantime, an Agreement on Cooperation with the Engineering Chamber of Montenegro was signed.
The Engineering Academy of Montenegro ‒ IACG had 25 members (12 members of the former JINA from Montenegro) and 13 newly elected, according to competitions published in the daily press on 23 October 2011. and 27.05.2016. years. Unfortunately, we were left without five distinguished members, whose deaths fell hard not only on their families, but on all of us who knew them and worked with them. They are: Ph.D. Vladimir Stanković, B.Sc. construction Eng., Prof. Dr. Miodrag Bulatović, vice president of IACG, B.Sc. Eng. M.Sc., M.Sc Blažo Krunić, B.Sc. Eng. Shum., prof. Dr. Mićko Radulović, B.Sc. Eng. of Geology and Dr. Radosav Marković, B.Sc. Eng. technologies. Today, the IACG has 20 members, of which 15 are regular, four are correspondence and one is foreign.
The Academy has its memorandum, and the website of the Academy is also open.
The basic goals and tasks of the Academy are determined by the Statute of the Academy, which was adopted by the Assembly of the Academy in 2013.
Pursuant to the Statute of the Academy, the organs and bodies of the Academy were formed: the Assembly, Council of Academicians, presidency, president and vice-president of the Academy, departments of the Academy, department secretaries, Supervisory Board and Court of Honor. Criteria and standards for the selection of new members of the Academy have also been determined.
